April Ross

April Ross is only one of the few beach volleyball players to have won medals multiple times at an Olympics. Alix-Klineman is set to compete alongside Ross at Tokyo for her third gold medal over the coming days. But more than that, Ross will be aiming for her first Olympic gold. As she is 39 she could have her final chance. However, she's convinced that top prizes are in reach. Ross through NBC Boston, said that when the team performs consistently or well they could win a gold. Also, I'll take the chance to have chance. Ross was a Californian born in Costa Mesa in 1982. She grew up in Costa Mesa with her mother, father and sister. Apart from participating in a variety of sports, Ross was also a student at Newport Harbor High School. The prep sports she played included indoor volleyball, as well as basketball, track and running. When she played in the final sport she was clearly the standout. In her own biography in high school, she was a volleyball player as an outside setter (middle blocker) as well as a setting (outside blocker). As a tribute to her efforts, she received the Gatorade Award for National Player in 1999. Also, in 2000 she was awarded the Orange County Athlete of the Yr for volleyball. Ross is playing with Klineman since 2017 but her beach game was well-established long before this. Actually, Ross has won several significant tournaments during her time together with two other partners. One of them is a legend. In the period 2007 to 2013 she teamed alongside Jennifer Kessy who more recently was Klineman's coach. Kessy was Ross's teammate at the World Championships of 2009. They took home a Silver medal in the 2012 Olympic Games held in London. The Misty Maytreanor legendary team as well as Kerri Jennings were the winners of gold. The fate of the matter was that Ross turned out to be Walsh Jennings' new partner as May-Treanor stepped down. The pair were able to win the bronze medal in beach volleyball during the Rio Olympics in 2016. After high school and many years before hitting the beach as a professional Ross balled out for the USC Trojans as an collegiate. The time she spent at the school was one to remember. In her first year at the school, 2000 earned her the Pac-10 as well as NCAA Freshman's of Year awards and be an All-American. Her Trojans made it to the Final Four. She endured a great personal loss in her sophomore, yet was successful in achieving the All-American award. Over her final two years as a player, she led the Trojans up to the top of the mountain by winning two successive national titles. As an individual Ross established her status in the history books by winning the Honda Sports Award for 2003-04. This award was given to the best female college volleyball players across the country. Ross was a USC international relations student was a renowned volleyball player. Margie Ross did not see her daughter reach the top of beach volleyball. Margie, Ross's mother, passed away in 2001. Ross was still a USC sophomore. The cancer was diagnosed as breast. However, she keeps her parents close to her heart. And Margie remains a source of motivation for her at the beach as well as in everyday life.
