Arianna Huffington
Arianna Stassinopoulos Huffington is a Greek American author syndicated columnist and a businesswoman. She was co-founder of The Huffington Post, is the chief executive officer and co-founder of Thrive Global as well an author of fifteen novels. Arianna Huffington is a philanthropist, author TV personality, and the owner of the independently liberal online newsmagazine The Huffington Post. Her birthplace is Greece Arianna Huffington immigrated to England together with her family around sixteen years of age. When she attended Cambridge University she earned a MA diploma in Economics. At 21 she became president of the famed debating society The Cambridge Union' and was the first non-native student to do so. After graduation she made her reputation as an editorialist for the conservative syndicate and when the publication of The Huffington Post' few months later, she created an online voice portal which included critical comments about the current political climate. Arianna was able to attract several notable contributors to post their opinions on culture and political issues. Arianna gained fame after she decided in 2003 to run as an Independent Candidate in the California Recall Election, to succeed Governor Davis. Apart from this she also led a Detroit initiative to encourage energy efficient vehicles. The project was named 12th on Forbes' list of most influential media women. That same year, Guardian listed her among the top 100 media personalities. In 2011 AOL Inc. purchased The Huffington Post and made the president of that media division, which contained many existing AOL brands too, like Engadget AOL music Style list as well as Patch Media. Her parents were journalist and management consultant Konstantinos and wife Elli Stasinopoulos. Although she was close to her father it was the relationship she shared with her mother that formed her entire life. She was a leader throughout her childhood. At the age of 16 she started her studies at the United Kingdom at Girton College Cambridge. She joined in the Cambridge Union college debate society while in college and was the third and first female to serve as president. In 1972, she earned an MA in Economics. She worked as a critic television host, and a columnist after her graduation. Also, she appeared together with Bernard Levin in an episode of Face the music and started writing books using the editorial services of Bernard Levin.
