Lee
Lee Roy Selmon blends the benefits of a football scholarship within his family with the benefits of community service. The first is his family. Lucious Selmon was the father of Jessie Selmon. The family raised nine kids on a Eufala farm. Second football he was one of three brothers who were players for Oklahoma. All three made All-America. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy was named the most offensive lineman in the United States by Outland and Lombardi Awards. Lee Roy won two championships, and the score was 32-1-1 over his three seasons as the Oklahoma's starting linebacker. In his role as an National Football Foundation Scholarship-Athlete, Selmon was given an award for his third season in 1975. Selmon received a bachelor's degree from the University of California, Berkeley. Fourth year of the university Lee Roy devoted ten hours per week to volunteer projects. After college, he moved into Tampa and played nine seasons with the Buccaneers. He was an All-Pro 3 times. He then began his professional career. By 1988, he became an Account Relations officer for Tampa's First Florida Bank. He also worked with the following groups: Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. In 1982, the Junior Chamber of Commerce recognized him as one of 10 of the most notable young males. While a student Lee Roy was 6-2 and was weighing 256 pounds. He captained his college team in the year 1975. In 1993, he became the athletic director's assistant at the University of South Florida. In 1988, Selmon was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame. The same year, he also was a part of the GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame and the Pro Football Hall of Fame. His parents, Lucious as well as Mary Selmon, Jr. have been awarded the Distinguished American Award in 1989 from the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation.
